[snip irrelevant info] For the safety of our customers, it is our policy that we get positive confirmation of the identity of our customer before performing service requests that involve a change in the financial status of an account. We do this by asking you to confirm the credit card information on your account.

Please call our Customer Service group at 1-888-283-5051, or from overseas by calling1-973-837-2700 to complete this transaction. Our hours of operation are Monday thru Friday, 10 am to 8 pm Eastern Time. [snip]

We look forward to assisting you with your Audible account.

How crazy is that? To sign up for Audible Books I just fed in a credit card number. To stop using their interesting and enjoyable service I have to prove who I am by an expensive international phonecall?

My response: cancel my sub now. If there has to be a phonecall then they can ring me at their expense.
