So you know someone who bought a Windows computer because it was “cheaper” than a Mac? here’s what a Windows-using client of mine wrote in an email:
I have had a disastrous week after discovering
that my computer had the Swen Worm (which attacks Norton Anti-Virus) I had
downloaded an attachment from what turned out to be a hoax Microsoft email
telling me to download the Patch. My daughter in Australia who is a
Computer Solutions Engineer with [company], had just been notified by their
security people about it and so she sent me detailed instructions on how to
get rid of it. Some of it I could have done but was extremely nervous about
the rest so hired a technician from [company] (I have used him before)
He got rid of the worm but in the process something went wrong and end
result he took off with my ‘box’ to try and reinstall everything that had
been lost!!!!
I was not a happy person (and the said technician was quietly ****ing
himself, ‘cus the expression).
Several days later I now have my computer back and operating. The
technician suggested I ask you to email to me my website data because I
probably no longer have it on file.
I still have some work to do to sort out files, but at least I can operate.
