Just adding a new business contact to my Address Book (3.1 v290) under Panther. There are some nice improvements here. Instead of choosing from a menu to show a card as the company rather than the individual you can now check a box right on the card. That affects the types of fields readily available, with additional fields for partner, boss, assistant and so on. In the address section you can choose a country format per address. Nice touches!

Hi, I read your great article about using the address book on macs. I run 10.2.8. I love the fact that I can download my contacts and calendar to my ipod, but , one problem. I’ve added the extra field, “birthdays”, and it DOES NOT SHOW UP on my ipod after syncing? Weird, it does show up on my address book though. I’m wondering, have you actually tried this? Or, does it not work. Maybe it’s just a field that shows up in the address book, not in the contacts on the ipod. i would really appreciate a reponse, as busy as you must be. keep up the great work, and try to add the field to your ipod and let me know how you did it. Nobody on apple forums knows how, and apple does not respond.

Hmmm, I just checked my iPod and it seems the birthdays don’t show up. If people on the Apple forums don’t know how to do it then probably you can’t do it.
