For the umpteenth time my firstbite mail’s down. I have three domain names and sites; firstbite.co.nz was my first. It’s hosted in North America somewhere by a company I found some 5 years ago when hosting in New Zealand wasn’t the greatest idea. At the time it seemed relatively inexpensive and to offer what I needed. Since then New Zealand hosting has improved out of sight. I can now get four times the features at less than half the price with Hostme.
It seems that far too often my mail goes down and I’ve long thought of bringing that domain back into New Zealand. I was a bit worried about having all my eggs in one basket — as we are in fact an isolated couple of islands in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean. I thought that having one server in North America would be a good safeguard.
Then the spammer did his thing, stealing my domain name. The host company were no help at all. They determined the spammer wasn’t using their server and that was the full extent of their interest. I needed help. I have no expertise in reading email headers. Is this what I pay good money for? No. I think it’s time finally to just move the domain to my local server. Hi ho, away we go!
