There are many subtleties to consider when setting up a new Mac. Today I realised I was sick of attachments just being dumped into an Attachments Folder. On the older Mac something created a dated folder every day and move attachments into it. This was very helpful in keeping things organised.

After a brief scout around I found that what I’d been using was Doug Everly’s FolderOrg. This is an AppleScript Folder Action that organizes files and folders by moving them into dated subfolders. This is helpful in keeping files and folders organized by the day they were added, not created or modified.

All depends on what mail app you use… Mail.app keeps the attachments as part of the message as does Entourage, but Powermail moves them as they come in directly to a folder…
