Let’s say you have iTunes 4.5 and are browsing around the movie trailers and music videos at the iTunes Store. You’ve found a clip and played it, enjoyed it, and would like to save it to your own computer to view later, show your friends, whatever. Maybe you can’t save it. What you need is an applescript from over on MacOSXHints.com. Worked beautifully for me with Eminem’s 8 Mile DVD preview, The Thunderbirds are Go trailer and the Metropolis trailer.

I hired Metropolis a couple of years ago and watched some of it. There were two problems though: I almost always do something else while watching TV and rely on dialogue and the sound track to keep me clued in on what’s happening and when to look up. It’s very rare for me just to sit and watch the screen. Metropolis is a silent movie and requires complete attention. Moreover Metropolis is very long and dating back to 1927 uses much slower storytelling techniques than those common nowadays. I never actually finished watching the movie. By the looks of the trailer I’ve missed out on something important and it might be time to try again.
