Beta software is software still in development. It might break or work funny or not work at all or disrupt your computer. I love being a beta tester though and often take part in such programmes. I’m beta testing two bits of software at the moment: NetNewsWire Pro which is now in public beta and another product which isn’t yet in public beta, but where new private betas are appearing almost overnight.

The other application incorporated a feature where it handed a task off to a text editor. My favourite text editor wasn’t included, I mentioned it and almost within the day there it was! It feels good to make a useful contribution, especially where it will benefit me personally.

The other product will soon go into public beta. News here when it does.
