It’s election year and things are warming up. No-one knows the election date yet, but the last possible date it can be held is Saturday, 24 September 2005. That’s now only 3 months away.
I don’t care much for politics and dislike how politicians behave. I am hardly ever likely to discuss politics on this Blog and this entry isn’t really any exception.
I’m only mentioning it here because I’ve been spammed by the ACT party! An email arrived this evening promoting intolerance and spouting general foul vileness. At least Eudora was smart enough to dump it straight into the Junk folder!
The email claimed I am subscribed to their mailing list but quotes an address which bears no resemblance to any legitimate address of mine. The “subscribed” address is @xtra.co.nz and the last time I had an address with Xtra was a number of years ago.
I’m not too clever with full headers on emails but this one seems to have come direct from the sender to my server, and uses a GMail address for the sender.
I’ve logged a complaint with GMail that this subscriber has gone against the program policies. I’m not quite sure where else to go with this, but I’m upset and incensed by this foul email. Regular spam is bad enough, but spam from NZ political parties in election year!
And since I’m mentioning spam — I’ve actually almost decided that I quite “like” the Chinese and Korean spam — because I don’t read those languages and they have distinctive script it makes it really easy when I scan the 200 or 300 messages in my spamtrap every day — all those messages are obviously spam: quick, easy, delete! No skimming required.
