I was looking at my server logs for June, and thought some of the stats were interesting. My visitors use these operating systems. I was looking at my server logs for June, and thought some of the stats were interesting.

My visitors use these operating systems. The percentages are of my total visitors. 0% reflects 5 or fewer visits, insufficient to reach 1%. I’m not really surprised that there are so many Mac users, given the content of the Blog, but I am interested in the numbers of visitors using neither Mac nor Windows.

Macintosh: 52.2 %
Mac OS X: 50.1 %
Mac OS: 2 %
Others: 29.4 %
Unknown: 25.5 %
Linux: 3.8 %
FreeBSD: 0 %
OS/2: 0 %
AmigaOS: 0 %
OpenBSD: 0 %
Unknown Unix system: 0 %
BeOS: 0 %
Windows: 18.3 %
Windows XP: 13.6 %
Windows NT: 0.2 %
Windows Me: 0.1 %
Windows 98: 1.2 %
Windows 95: 0 %
Windows 2003: 0.1 %
Windows 2000: 2.8 %

The browser versions are particularly interesting, exhibiting diversity, and with a few surprises:

  1. Internet Explorer: 16.80% — everything from v 6.0 (14.60%) right down to v 3.02.
  2. Firefox: 5.40% — everything from v 1.0.4 (3.40%) right down to v 0.10.1.
  3. Netscape: 1.20% — everything from v 8.0.1 (0%) right down to v 0.2, and including v4.x at about 0.5%.
  4. Others: 76.40%. This includes quite a variety, though the main ones are:
    1. NetNewsWire: 39.90%
    2. Unknown: 21.80%
    3. Safari: 8.30%
    4. Mozilla: 4.80%
