Apparently Apple announced a new ROKR iTunes phone today. That’s of no relevance to us here in New Zealand, but iTunes 5.0 has also appeared.

New Features. Enjoy a streamlined look, find stuff faster with the new Search Bar, control kids’ access with Parental Controls and hear more of what you love with Smart Shuffle.

Also listed at the Apple site is a new iPod Nano — tinier than ever, with a colour screen and a 14 hour battery life between charges. Cute and all that, but the Shuffle didn’t do it for me and in my iPod world smaller isn’t entirely better. Give me more hard drive than my current 40 Gb model — I have files to store, as well as music and podcasts. A colour screen could be good too. I’ve been holding off upgrading to an iPod Photo in hopes of something considerably better than my current iPod, but it looks like it won’t be this week.
