I know just about enough PHP to be dangerous, but am keen to learn more about it. I know just about enough PHP to be dangerous, but am keen to learn more about it. My previous experiment with a print book didn’t get me too far, for reasons I’ve now forgotten, but maybe it’s time to try again. Paul Hudson has made his book Practical PHP Programming available online for free.

So far I’ve read only the Preface and the section called Is this book for you? so I can’t make a judgement, but if this statement is anything to go by then it’ll be a good read:

Finally, if you are expecting that it is easy to learn PHP; that you can learn a new language without having to memorise hundreds of functions; that one book can take you from beginner to expert in web development — you’re absolutely right, because you’re reading it!
