Safari passes Acid2 test

The Mac OS X update to 10.4.3 brings an improved version of Safari. It now shows itself as Version 2.0.2 (416.12). And Safari now passes the Acid 2 test.

Acid2 is a test page, written to help browser vendors ensure proper support for web standards in their products.

Just out of interest I put the other Mac browsers I use to the test.

  • Firefox 1.5 beta 2: failed
  • OmniWeb 5.1.2 (563.60): failed
  • Opera 8.5 build 2173: failed

Firefox 1.0.7 on Windows XP fails the test too (but can still be guessed at). And IE 6 just…. oh it’s too hard to describe.

So, it looks like Safari will be the first webbrowser to support it. :-)
