Imagine you walk through town and follow the street signs to visit your favourite cafe. When you get there the cafe’s gone and in its place is a department store. What? The problem is the cafe’s in its usual place, but someone switched the street signs round.

That’s what happened today with MacTips.Info. Instead of the domain name servers pointing to my blog they pointed to some placeholder thing. It’s as though the street signs were switched. Fortunately it was not offensive or porn or anything.

It turns out that when I renewed my domain name recently the change went through the New Zealand system just fine but somehow fell down in the US. The Freeparking Helpdesk have been friendly and helpful in putting this right.

It’s great to be back online — I was feeling very disconnected there for a while. If you sent me email recently there’s every chance it disappeared into a black hole. You may like to send it again.
