Back in December I wrote a Tip about editing iTunes track information: Edit iTunes track info, Mac Tip #225/21-December-2005: I download a lot of podcasts and often want to make small changes to the name of the track or the genre or other fields. One way to do this is to select one or more tracks and choose Get Info from the File menu. Then click on the Info tab and make changes.

In the Comments Ken asked about using iTunes to pull out a clip from a track and I said it couldn’t be done within iTunes. What I was forgetting though was the Start and Stop times options, so helpfully explained in this tip from The Unofficial Apple Weblog:

… you can trim off the beginning or end of any song in iTunes right within the app. Go to a song, Ctrl-click on it (that’s a right-click for you Mighty Mousers), and go to Get Info. A dialog box will open, with several choices at the top. You’ll want to go to Options, and you’ll see a Start Time and Stop Time well where you can specify when the song should start or stop.

Chip V made a comment that got tangled up in my anti-spam:

Additionally, if you burn a CD in iTunes with that same track you have altered the Start / Stop time in, the track will end up on the CD as the truncated version.
