NetNewsWire 3.0a8 has bugs and unfinished features, but it’s getting closer to shipping. If you’re comfortable running pre-release software, you can download it.

One of my favourite features is being able to add photos in feeds direct to iPhoto — very handy for getting wonderful astronomy pictures onto my Apple TV.

The vertical tabs are just like OmniWeb, and a fantastic feature. Just the other day the Dinosaurs window helped me tidy up my list of feeds. I’m really used to flagging items and don’t often remember to use clippings instead, but they’re there.

Oh, and my favourite stylesheet is Ollicle Reflex, whose coolness is unbounded. I put all my photo feeds on a black background with this, and the photos shrink or expand to fit my news item column width (I use widescreen view).

Brent provides a stern warning about running this software, noting that it’s not yet even beta. It pays to heed such warnings. For me though: I’ve been running all the releases up to this one with no problems at all.

Go play!
