Apple have released a bunch of new or updated stuff today: iMac, keyboard, Mac mini, Airport Extreme Base Station, but what I’ve ordered is iLife 08 and iWork 08. It seems they should arrive within a few days.
I ordered the Family Pack of both — it was only about $25 extra each and it means I can legitimately share the packages around on my 3 Macs and my partner’s MacBook.
Particularly interesting is the addition of Numbers to the iWork package. This should finally mean that I won’t have to open up Excel to read the spreadsheets I sometimes receive. Hooray.
Numbers ’08 lets you do everything from setting up your family budget to completing a lab report to creating detailed financial documents.
I’m not entirely sure why I really don’t like opening up MS Office, but I will go to considerable lengths to avoid using Word and Excel if I possibly can.
Also interesting is that the new version of iMovie can apparently produce video suitable for YouTube and upload it direct.
