We have 3 cellphones in this house — each with a different charger and plug. It’s a big pain, hugely inefficient, and wasteful of resources. Finally though, cellphone manufacturers have managed to get their act together:
It has taken more than 25 years, but mobile phone manufacturers have made a “groundbreaking” decision – to use the same charging plugs for all handsets.
An industry group containing the five dominant manufacturers – Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, LG and Sony Ericsson – has committed to using a micro-USB plug in all future models.

Thanks to Oliver for the tip.
It’s about time. But then, really they’re just catching up to where they should have been 20 years ago: what I’d rather have is one of those charging ‘plates’ where you just lay the cellphone on top of it to be charged — along with all the other sundry gadgets that all have their own chargers. I’m sure I read about something like that recently. Oh, and can it please be solar powered?
