In general I send posts to my WordPress blogs with the most excellent MarsEdit. I’ve even been lucky enough to be one of the beta testers, so I can say quite definitively that the freshly released version 2 is excellent. I’ve been using it for months now.
The new version brings such features as:
- A simplified user interface.
- A streamlined Media Manager, with a dedicated tab for Flickr.
- Customise your own text markup macros.
- Show or hide fields in the post editor window.
- Printing.
I also love the way I can use my blog’s stylesheet to customise the preview I see, before I send the post, and the bookmarklet that makes it easy to grab stuff straight from my browsers.
Because I post to half a dozen blogs, I also like that I can grab content, feed it to MarsEdit and then choose which blog to direct the post to.
I have a lot of Applescripts and clippings set up in BBEdit, which is where I do most of my writing these days. I’ve set MarsEdit to use BBEdit as an external editor. So if I need to do something complex or tricky to a post, I use Command J to send the post from MarsEdit to BBEdit, do what I need there, and then close (and Save) which sends the edited material right back to MarsEdit. Lovely.
There’s a 30-day trial, so if you haven’t looked at this new version yet, go download: MarsEdit.
