A nice weather tip from the O’Reilly Mac DevCenter Blog — you can feed weather forecasts into iCal:

If you’d like to get your weather forecasts in iCal, head on over to Weather Underground, find your city, and check out the top right-hand of the page for the ICAL icon.

Tip for Wellingtonians: our airport code works well: wlg.

Once you have your city, scroll down a bit until you see the green iCal icon near the top right. Control click on the icon and choose Copy Link Location (or whatever your browser calls it to copy the link address). The link for Wellington is: http://www.wunderground.com/auto/ical/global/stations/93436.ics?units=metric.

Now open iCal and choose Subscribe… from the Calendar menu. Paste in the address you’ve just copied. But before you click the Subscribe button, look at the end of the URL, as it tells you whether it will use metric or non-metric units. The choices are: both, metric and english. Change it to match your preference.

Now click Subscribe. A dialog box appears. Edit the name if you wish, and remember to check the box to refresh the calendar every so often. Also choose the time interval, then click OK.

Nice.
