When I was a kid growing up Christchurch shop trading hours were very restricted: 9 to 5.30 Monday to Thursday, and a ‘late night’ Friday till 9 pm. Banking hours were even tighter — something like 10 till 4, from memory.

Over the years things changed, and now retailers even resent the occasional compulsory closures, such as the morning of Anzac Day and a couple of religious holidays. Sigh.

What made me think of this was the announcement I just received from Magnum Mac:

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Launch Today!

OS X 10.5 Leopard Launches Today 6pm. Stores open from 6pm to 7pm in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch.

So there we go folks: rush on down tonight between 6 and 7 to a Magnum Mac near you.
