Hmmm, I was just looking at an image — NASA – Earth’s Horizon:

Airglow above Earth’s horizon and solar array panels add color to this scene of a portion of the International Space Station as the orbiting complex is docked with the Space Shuttle Discovery.

I clicked the link to the large version (650Kb) and an image about 3,000 pixels by 2,000 appeared, but it didn’t fill the window, as you might expect. Instead it fit the window, with room to spare and the cursor turned into a plus sign. Click: the image enlarges and the cursor turns into a minus sign. Click: the image reduces.

Nifty. Thanks Leopard.

Why can’t it automatically display full size and have a mouse over minus/resize option?

Well, I’m not a mind reader and don’t have a line in to Apple’s decision making, but I prefer being able to see the entire image with the option to view large. The other way round would probably annoy me.

Hmm. Firefox has done this for a few years and IE since 5.5 in 2000, I believe.

Yeah, and even MS and FF saw fit to give us a way to turn resizing OFF.

Thanks for nothing Apple…still googling for a hack to disable it.

I think its annoying. I’d rather it was the other way around. Did anybody ever end up find a way out of it?
