I now use TextExpander all the time. I rely on it, and miss it very much on my iPod touch. Now that I use Gmail for my email I have numerous text macros for common searches, for example. I always use macros when I’m writing HTML, and TextExpander often fixes typos for me, without my even knowing. Though that can sometimes backfire …

With TextExpander, users can define abbreviations for frequently-used text strings and images, also known as snippets. When an abbreviation is typed, it expands automatically to the full snippet. The new version of TextExpander incorporates many features for organizing, sharing and syncing snippets.

The update to TextExpander 2.0 brings new features such as snippet groups, hotkeys and AppleScript snippets, that expand to the result of the script, as well as numerous other improvements.

I haven’t come to grips yet with the Applescript snippets — I’m supposed to be writing an article, not playing with software, but it could be very useful. When I write HTML in BBEdit, I have numeorus Applescripts that help me with the markup. If I can support them with TextExpander it could make my workflow even smoother.
