Tikouka, or cabbage trees, in bloom. This blog is named TiKouka, after the cabbage trees we have around our property. (That’s outside of the property — we don’t yet have any within the boundary.)

In spring and early summer the tikouka bloom, with gorgeous panicles of creamy white flowers. With this year’s early summer, the trees are currently rather splendid, as you can see from this photo of the area beside our house. Click the thumbnail for a larger version.

For more photos see my online album.

And by the way: you say the Māori word ‘tikouka’ rather like this: tee coker.
