Rob Griffiths is a mine of most excellent Mac tips, such as this one, that I’d never come across before in all these many years of using Macs — A file selection trick for Finder windows:

When you press Tab, the Finder will automatically select the next file in the current folder based on sorting by name, regardless of what sort order you’ve applied to that folder. If you press Shift-Tab, the Finder will select the previous file based on sorting by name.

This is a very nice adjunct tip to my recent series about View Options and the several ways to view Finder windows in Leopard:

  1. Enlarge Finder Icons
  2. Show Information in Finder List View
  3. Show Directories in Column View
  4. Show Folders in Cover Flow View
