Meanwhile Vodafone NZ is following the mushroom principle: keep them in the dark and feed them [redacted]. Or as Schultz would have said: I know nothing!

The web page tells us we’ve been waiting for the phone (well, golly!) and links to the [drum roll] press release and Apple’s iPhone page.

iphone waiting.

They did email us on 30 June to build excitement like this:

The new iPhone 3G – it’s all happening.

Hi,
Here at Vodafone, we’re eagerly counting down the days until the launch of the new iPhone 3G – and we bet you are too!

So, what’s next?

We will be rolling out our exciting iPhone 3G plans very soon. So make sure to keep an eye on your inbox to stay ahead of the game.

What’s really exciting is NZ will be one of the first countries in the world with the iPhone 3G!

Stocks will be limited so you’ll need to be quick.

Nothing on pricing. Nothing on plans. Nothing on how or where to buy. Nothing on when we’ll actually be able to physically hold an iPhone. A big fat nothing.

I think I’ve mentioned before that Vodafone suck. I’m a long-term customer — about 14 years and counting — but I’m no longer a loyal customer. It’s a shame that Telecom suck more and there still aren’t any other players.

Pricing in Australia on Voda has not been announced. They’re keeping quiet until launch day apparently. Optus is the only company to announce full pricing plans. Telstra’s not announced their data rates with their plans.
