Discovered today, the group and the website — Friends of the Wellington Town Belt:

Wellington’s Town Belt is a stunning feature of the city landscape — an arc of public green space that brings nature and outdoor recreation opportunities into the heart of the city.

It has been an important part of Wellington’s heritage and identity since the 1840s. Few cities in the world can boast such an asset.

The Friends group was formed to promote and protect the Town Belt and assist the Wellington City Council in its management.
