Many thanks to the 40 0r 50 people who attended my public talk tonight entitled Instant Websites for Anyone, with WordPress. The photo shows some of those who kindly stayed behind so I could take a photo.

The session went well, and several people asked interesting and useful questions. It was made slightly more challenging by the fact that just last night WordPress.com upgraded from WordPress 2.6.5 or thereabouts to 2.7 so the Dashboard was totally different. Luckily I’ve developed the weekend’s WordPress courses using 2.7 beta 3, so I’d had the chance to work with the new layout already.

A couple of people asked for the slides I showed before the live demonstration of setting up a website. If you’re interested download from:

The PDFs can of course be viewed as a slideshow — just look under the View menu. The slides probably won’t be of any use to anyone who didn’t attend to hear my commentary.

And for those who were interested in learning more about techniques for writing for the web be sure to visit Rachel McAlpine’s site at Contented.com.
