This time last month I was wandering round Honolulu. To get there I flew 1 hour from Wellington to Auckland, and then around 9 hours on to Honolulu. Check-in, waiting, security, Customs etc added probably another 6 or 7 hours.
Being a person who likes to carry gadgets, along with the tickets, pen, immigration forms and other paraphernalia connected with travel, I chose to wear the Ultimate Cargo Pants from SCOTTEVEST/SeV:
The SeV Ultimate Cargo Pants offer 14 pockets, patented Personal Area Network, a key holder, magnetic closures, adjustable waist, change pockets, battery holders and much, much more!
While I’d worn these trousers a little round Wellington I came to really appreciate them on the way to and in Hawai’i. They were extremely comfortable, and the multiple pockets gave me quick access to the things I needed.
I was easily able to carry my wallet and some loose coins and notes, the bus map, my new Flip video camera, keys (securely attached to the key holder, my passport (safely stowed in an obscure, zipped pocket), my iPod touch, bus pass, sundry other papers (eg the map of the Zoo), a muesli bar and miscellaneous other bits and bobs as the need arose.
Each item tucked neatly and inconspicuously into a pocket, and I didn’t end up looking like a packhorse.
I also travelled with the Women’s Travel Vest. I set out from Wellington wearing it, with passports and other gear in all the pockets. It was a breeze to remove the travel vest and send it through the security scanner.
I didn’t have the opportunity to really put it to the travel test though because it was way too hot to wear it in Hawai’i.
For occasions requiring a little more formality than the Ultimate Cargo Pants I also have the Hidden Cargo Pants. Again, I can keep all kinds of stuff in the pockets, such as wallet and tiny video camera, keys and the like.
When I bought my first few items of Scott eVest clothing I had to go through annoying contortions, imposing on friends who would move the clothing from the USA to New Zealand for me as shipping was extortionately expensive, sometimes far exceeding the cost of the clothes. I’m glad to say that new shipping options are available that have cut costs back to being reasonable.
I also have a few other items of Scott eVest clothing. I love them all. Just saying …
