While I have little sympathy for those busily downloading software illegally, it does concern me that a Trojan is being delivered to Mac users who may then distribute it further:
A security alert posted [22 January 2009] by antivirus vendor Intego reveals that the company has discovered a new Trojan horse that is being carried by pirated copies of iWork ’09 circulating on a number of torrent sites.

This is a much better place to obtain your Mac software. Guaranteed free of malware, plus you know you’re contributing to the creation of more superb software.

i know i was totally stumped when i found a virus on my usb drive. I picked it up using warehouse stationery to do some printing and they operate windows machines.
But that mac useser can sit on a virus that doesn’t affect them but can be sahred with other computer, i’d like to know how to stop that
If you’re concerned about ‘carrying’ viruses that could affect others then you could always use anti-virus software.
If you use MS Word and Excel maybe choose the settings where you don’t allow macros. I no longer have Word or Excel installed and can’t clarify that point further. Look in the Help files for the software.
If you’re sharing files via USB stick try reformatting it before putting files on it. This MacTip will help: http://mactips.info/2008/08/clean-up-a-thumb-drive/ . Also reformat it after it’s been in someone else’s computer.
