Courtesy of my accountant’s newsletter, two incredibly useful URLs for New Zealanders:
Keep that infuriating junk mail out of your letterbox, and stop those rotten solicitous phonecalls.
Note: these do not mail / call lists are only used by organisations that are members of the Marketing Association. I guess that means we’re still fair game for the sleazy ones, the politicians, the charities, the pollsters, the overseas-sourced calls, and all the other annoying mailers and callers.

Top links, thanks
By far the most useful URL I’ve seen this year — or at least it will be if the service is effective. Now all we need to do is to reduce the 5kg or so of junk mail I get in my letterbox each week — it’s 50 percent of my paper recycling.
Thanks Bill.
I signed up on these lists, but also added a ‘No circulars’ sign on my letterbox.
That didn’t stop The Wellingtonian free newspaper. In fact, emails to the Editor didn’t stop that rag – they refused to stop delivering it.
Finally I put a large notice on the letterbox just before the delivery usually arrived that said: ‘The Wellingtonian is NEVER welcome here. Please don’t ever put it in our letterbox.’
That was a few weeks ago and we haven’t had that one since.
A certain Mr Llew from SunnyO blog has fought (and won, I think) the battle against the Wellingtonian “newspaper” – http://sunnyo.blogspot.com/search?q=wellingtonian
