What do you know now? And 20 years ago?

…half the things a man knows at 20 are no longer true at 40 — and half the things he knows at 40 hadn’t been discovered when he was 20.

 

I must have joined the Thought For The Day mailing list a decade ago, at least. Every day a ‘thought’ arrives in my In Box, many of them notable. This one, though, I think is particularly apt for a blog such as mine:

We have to abandon the idea that schooling is something restricted to youth. How can it be, in a world where half the things a man knows at 20 are no longer true at 40 — and half the things he knows at 40 hadn’t been discovered when he was 20?
