The Web Awards, (not the) swimsuit edition

08 May 2009 · 0 comments

Too often crummy websites are given awards. That’s about to change, thanks to the ONYAs.

We’ve all seen those web awards where glossy, shiny websites get to win, even if they’re inaccessible, hard to navigate, poorly written. So long as they look good, they’re winners. Kind of like Miss Universe, swimsuits, makeup, and all.

Well, that’s about to change, thanks to the fine folks at Webstock who have created The ONYAs:

We wanted to create some awards that meant something to the industry, that were credible and relevant. We wanted some awards that focused on the web and didn’t relegate that to a category amongst broader design awards. And we wanted the awards to be judged by the best people we could find

So we created the ONYAs.

The ONYAs are brought to you by the team at Webstock. The web industry in New Zealand is world class. The ONYAs are awards that reflect that.
