Cruising in the fog

A haunting foghorn sounded amongst Wellington’s hills.

Wellington seems to be a lot foggier, a lot more often, than it used to be.

A couple of days ago fog gathered around the South Coast, obscuring the southern end of the airport runway, and drifting along between the Miramar Peninsula and the Eastbourne coast.

When I took the dogs for a walk in the afternoon I could hear the glorious deep bass chords of a ship in the fog. It sounded as though it were heading out of the Harbour and off to sea.

After a few minutes the MS Amsterdam appeared briefly in a gap in the fog. [Note: the two photos above look much better larger. Click for full effect. ]
