YouTube speed comparison.
The new YouTube Video Speed History feature provides damning evidence of TelstraClear’s shockingly bad performance with YouTube videos:
Your average video speed at this location from January 13, 2010 to February 11, 2010 was 1.13 Mbps.
While the world at large averages almost 3 Mbps, and New Zealand averages around 2.2, TelstraClear averages about 1.
Speed test.
This morning, while watching a simple movie I experienced 4 buffering pauses in the first 16 seconds, for example.
And that’s in the context of perfectly good download speeds. I have a 10Mb/s (maximum) connection, and that’s roughly what I get.
Telstra know about this problem — it’s been going on for months. They should have fixed it by now.

flatmates xnet is just as bad.
Time someone took them to disputes over it and got some publicity for this crap.
The problem is that as well as giving shit performance meaning that its unusable for intended purpose, they are charging for the data used when its not working properly.
It’s gotten to the point where I just don’t use youtube anymore. Whats worse is that the porn site rip offs of youtube work perfectly
Of course, this pales in comparison to the 1.5 year and counting missed deadline on rolling out HD. Last rumor I heard from one of their installers is that it will be another 6 to 9 months at the minimum.
I have telestraclear and it Sucks!! My download speed is 65kb/s and i have a 25GB pack and sucks!! It is cheaper but now i have to wait for my u torrent to download at speeds of like 24kb/s!! it used to be 300kb/s with Telecom!. I’m going to change back if they don’t do anything in a month!
