An elegant A frame stand for my iPad

I’ve had it less than 24 hours, but I love the Griffin A-Frame Stand for iPad.

I’d had my iPad for a day or so when I realised I really wanted a stand for it. I’d propped it up against a vase so I could watch a video while washing the dishes, but the angle wasn’t quite right and I was concerned about it slipping.

I had trouble with it when I was stirring the porridge: did I prop it on the bench, put it on the table or try to stir with one hand and hold the iPad in the other? No, I needed a stand.

The Griffin A-Frame Stand for iPad looked appealing, but I tried to resist. It cost more than I really wanted to pay. On the other hand it looked sturdy, well put together and effective.

The heavy aluminum stand swings open to hold your iPad upright, in either portrait or landscape view … perfect for watching video, or viewing pictures. Or close the legs and lay the stand down to hold your iPad at the perfect angle to use it for desk- or table-top surfing, reading or gaming. Soft silicone cradles your iPad and accommodates the iPad’s dock/sync cable.

So I gave in and ordered it. This morning it arrived and I can say: I love it.

The iPad fits it beautifully. The viewing angle works just right — I was able to watch videos while preparing dinner and washing dishes, as well as while eating dinner. There’s no danger of it slipping either.

It’s simple, elegant and functional. I have no regrets and would happily buy it as a gift for a friend.

Do you use a stand with your iPad? Which one, and how do you like it?

I don’t have a stand (yet?) but I got a “Silicone Skin” off TradeMe for $10 back at the start of May. The surface is just sticky enough that it will stay propped up against things without slipping on typical desk or bench surfaces and that seems to be pretty much good enough for me. It does totally hide the “shiny” though.

Thanks Bruce.

Several days in and I can say the A Frame stand is very very nice. I’m extremely happy with it.
