A short visit to Christchurch (in the South Island) was pleasant. The Avon river still looks beautiful in the centre of town. In the Square there’s a new sculpture, which despite looking like an ice cream cone is called “The Chalice”. Even though it’s mid-winter we had a splendid Canterbury day with an early frost followed by spectacular blue skies and sunshine. It was surprisingly warm too. As always, these thumbnails are linked to larger versions.
