In his “keynote” presentation today at Apple’s WWDC conference, Steve Jobs announced:
- Safari with Version 1.0 to be available for download later today.
- Panther (Mac OS X 10.3) with a brand new Finder. Jobs promises to deliver Panther by the end of 2004, and said it will be priced at US$129.
- iDisk becomes a local folder
- Expose helps manage windows when you’re running many applications and opening many documents – it can shrink all the windows to thumbnail images.
- File Vault is an encryption system that works on the fly for all items in your home directory, enabled with one checkbox.
- Improved Mail for Panther
- Fax capabilities in the operating system
- Font Book is an application that does pro font management
- iChat AV “goes beyond just text chat” to bring “videoconferencing for the rest of us”
- New G5 systems, due in August.
