This is pretty nifty: Audio Postcard. With Audio Postcard you can create and send digital postcards over the Internet complete with embedded audio messages and customized titling and borders. They are created as .mov files and it’s a very easy drag and drop interface. The result looks good, though my experiment with a 40Kb jpg and a couple of spoken sentences created a 260kb attachment. To be fair, I had the sound on fairly high quality and chose medium compression rather than high compression.
I was able to easily go back and re-record my message after a couple of bungled false starts. This would be ideal for a few of my clients. It’s US$19.95 and there’s no obvious link on the site to download a demo. I grabbed my demo copy from VersionTracker.
