A friend emailed:
is there a text only browser for OS X?. My initial answer was that I couldn’t find one, but then things fell into place.
Further research has found Lynx-2.8.5.d16-SSL-10.2.pkg.sit at www.osxgnu.org/software/Networking/lynx which for me downloaded and installed itself without trouble.
After installation I opened Terminal and typed
lynx. After that I typed
g and then
http://mactips.info. Everything went swimmingly from there.
While I didn’t need to use the information at MacOSXHints.com it was very useful. I went ahead and followed up by installing the “Links” browser mentioned in the story, but the install was problematic and as I had no clue what I was doing I would be unable to recite how I became successful.
The only “problem” is being able to keep up with the speed of these browsers.
