Phew! Starting last Friday I had a three day headache, making thinking and working and reading quite hard. The headache finally left me round about Sunday or Monday and that’s when the cold started developing, giving me a fuzzy head, sore throat, sleepiness and a general inability to actually do any decent work.
There’s a Japanese acupuncturist nearby who treated me mid-week by pricking my thumbs. That eased up the sore throat and finally today I’m almost restored to good health. The brain’s clear and functioning, the throat’s only marginally tickly and I’ve been able to read, focus and start on catching up.
Thanks goodness I don’t suffer from any serious illness or disability. This headache / cold combination left me feeling massively frustrated, and it was so trivial. If I really had something to complain about I’d be beside myself with frustration and anger.
I recently heard part of a radio interview where someone explained that the author of “Seabiscuit” suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. She wrote the book over three or four years, often lying on her back and with her eyes closed because she couldn’t sit up or read. That’s real dedication!
