Chris Heilmann’s article on evolt.org: Navigation – our visitors’ travel guide is a good reminder of important points about how visitors may get around our websites. There are useful real world analogies, comparing websites to department stores. For me though, this was the most useful reminder of all:
We can use technology to read some of the settings of the browser, but in effect this data does not help us much … We deal with human beings, not with their technology, therefore the idea of being able to predict what is going on by means of technology is doomed from the start.
