I’ve been using Readerware for a long time to keep track of my books, CDs and DVDs. When I first bought an iSight camera I didn’t think of using it to scan barcodes, but then noticed that Delicious Library can do that. Scan the product barcode and automatically search the Internet for product details which then magically get inserted into the cataloguing software. With Readerware I’ve been typing in the barcode myself.
Today I found EvoBarcode which can use your iSight as a barcode scanner and sends barcodes to any application. It can also send scanned barcodes to the Clipboard, or to an AppleScript, allowing you to integrate EvoBarcode with existing software solutions.
I scanned a few DVD barcodes and searched Google. Results appeared very quickly. This could be worth investing in.
