After being almost too busy to think for the last couple of months I’ve struck a brief lull. The WordPress 2 : Visual QuickStart Guide book is progressing well, but I have to wait for others to send me material before I can do much more. Webstock is almost upon us, but again, things are well in hand and I can relax for a week or two.
Recently I’ve been able to get back into skating. I was very rusty after hardly skating at all for a year or two, but after some very unconfident skating I seem to be getting back into the way of it and am enjoying it tremendously. The Council have more or less finished the seemingly unending major construction works around Oriental Parade and again it’s a fabulous place to skate. One still has to watch out for three of the four “p”s though: potholes are no longer a problem, but puddles, pedestrians, and dog poop are ongoing challenges.
The new Waitangi Park is fabulous, and if you go down at 7am, as I have a few times, the swarms of boys skating over hurdles and up walls are at home and there’s only a sea of broken glass to contend with. Luckily the council workers are already sweeping by 7, and they seem to start on the beginner’s slope, so that suits me well.
A couple of years ago I was interested in perhaps saving up to go on a skating tour. That lapsed as time went by and I just wasn’t skating. Now though, I’m starting to dream again…
