A couple of weeks ago we went to see an Australian movie called Oyster Farmer. It was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours on a cold, wet Wellington day.
Set on the Hawkesbury River in New South Wales, Australia, Oyster Farmer showed us some absolutely gorgeous scenery, with broad sweeps of the river. In amongst the hills were a community earning a hard living from oyster farming.
One character, needing some serious money to help his sister, committed a robbery, mailing the money back to himself. The money never arrived though, leading him to suspect various of his neighbours.
In spite of the premise, this was a gentle and leisurely movie, with humour and some interesting surprises.
