How to set a publication time in WordPress

How to set a publication time in WordPress

Last night I was chatting to a colleague who mentioned the difficulty of having to Publish a post in WordPress before a related event had actually finished. His post should really appear after the event, not during, or before. As I drove home I wondered why he was having this problem — after all you […]

11 or 23?

I’m just reading an email notice about the Aurigid meteor shower, expected in the next day or two. Here’s what it says: … the peak is due around 4:30 a.m. PDT (11:30 UT) on Saturday morning. … I grew up in New Zealand, mainly, where we use AM and PM for times of the day […]

WordPress image thumbnail size

I often add images to my WordPress posts — not so much here, but in the MacTips archive and on my Oddity59 personal blog. From time to time I wonder just how big the image thumbnails are, and occasionally I even ponder how to go about changing that thumbnail size. Dagon Design has the answer. […]

Carter Observatory video; lunar eclipse

Wellington’s Carter Observatory is closed for renovations, but they have a cool 4 minute video on the site. The educational displays are to be redesigned over the next few months, so that by reopening time we will have a variety of world class exhibits, hands-on demonstrations and shows. Catching up

I have a very annoying cold, complete with fuzzy brain, aching teeth and body, and very low energy. At least the sun’s shining, so I’ve dedicated my day to sitting quietly in the sunniest room of the house catching up on emails, preparing invoices, responding to comments on my blog and so on.

Browser Tips: How to make the NZHerald online readable

The NZ Herald actually has some interesting stories, but it packages them up in very user-unfriendly ways. This morning I discovered how to make it much more readable. Here’s what I’ve done. The Herald supplies only partial RSS feeds. I subscribe to Peter Griffin’s technology blog feed and seem to end up looking at maybe […]

Some stories are just fun. Do read the whole thing on Gizmodo — Porn For All!: Australian $84 Million Porn Filter Thwarted By 16-Year-Old — it’s hilarious. Wellington Airport and cars

Wellington airport’s a pain. It’s free and easy to drop someone off: drive up to the door, let the passenger out of the car, give them their bags and drive away. Picking people up is a whole different matter, though, so it’s interesting to hear today that Air NZ is getting stuck into the airport: […]

This time […]

WordPress.com birthday congratulations

Matt writes about WordPress.com’s 2nd Birthday: Has it really been a year since I almost missed our birthday last time? How time flies. Next thing you know it’s a million blogs later. It’s overwhelming to even begin to chronicle everything that has happened, but a year ago we didn’t have domain mapping, custom CSS, private […]
