Sometimes you want a Post to stick around for a while at the top of the Home Page, even while other posts come and go beneath it.
For that you need WP-Sticky. Download the plugin and uncompress it to a folder called
wp-sticky. Take the folder inside (
sticky) and upload it to the plugins folder for your blog. Then enable the plugin from your blog’s Dashboard.
Now when you write a Post there’s a new option available on the right-hand side of the Create New Post window:
Post Sticky Status. If necessary, click the white plus sign at the right-hand end of the blue heading to expand the Status options.
Choose Normal for a normal Post that flows down the timeline in the usual way.
Choose Announcement for a Post that sticks to the top of the Home Page until you remove it.
Choose Sticky for a Post that stays at the top of one day’s Posts.
Refer to WP-Sticky New Ideas for more information about the difference. There are also some Options available in Dashboard > Options > Sticky.
