My current series of MacTips is all about Quick Look — a new feature in Leopard. It lets you quickly see what’s in various files, but unfortunately it doesn’t see inside folders.
Now xdd has created a Folder Quick Look Plugin that Taiyo@hatena explains how to use:
Folder.qlgenerator shows pretty good file list on Quick Look window.
…Drag Folder.qlgenerator into /Library/QuickLook/ or ~/Library/QuickLook/.
Make “QuickLook” folder If you can’t find at /Library/.
I downloaded the file and added it to the correct location, then tried to Quick Look inside a folder. It didn’t work, so I thought I may have to log out or restart. I read some email, then tried again to find it worked just fine — no restart or logout required.
As the screenshot shows, the Quick Look also gives you useful folder information such as the number of files it contains and the file path, and the plugin allows you display hidden files and times if you wish.
