Just before Easter I realised I needed a new pair of headphones. While on-site at my client’s office I wanted to listen to a bit of music while working, and I realised I could catch up on a podcast or two on the bus home each day.
I already have a large pair of cushioned headphones I’m comfortable wearing at home, but they aren’t suitable for office or street wear. And I have a pair of Etymotic ER6i isolating earbuds. They work well, but I didn’t want the music right inside my head, nor did I want to shut out all outside noise. Plus they’re a bit fiddly to insert.
I decided that what I needed was a lightweight pair of headphones to go over my head and sit against my ears.
After some research I came to the Sennheiser PX 100 Black Headphone at NZ$88 including GST and shipping from Think Digital in Tauranga. I ordered online late on Easter Friday — a time when any reseller should be enjoying some time off work.
On Tuesday morning I woke to an email that the headphones had shipped. Next day the package appeared on the doorstep.
Given that I’d ordered in the middle of a 4-day holiday weekend this all seemed particularly smooth and easy. I was thrilled with the good service.
I’ve now used the headphones a couple of times and am very happy with them. Music sounds crisp and clear, while the headphones themselves are light and comfortable.
They come in an extremely nifty and clever hard plastic case into which they fold, with provision for winding the cord securely around the case itself.
I listened to a couple of podcasts on the bus. While the headphones at normal volume couldn’t compete with the sound of the bus engines working hard to climb some parts of Mt Victoria, overall I was very satisfied.
Think Digital carry a huge range of Sennheiser headphones, and some iPods and accessories and a couple of GPS devices. If you’re a Kiwi looking for Sennheiser products I think you should look at Think Digital first.
