When I was a kid flip flops were footwear — what are now known as jandals. Now it seems a flip flops are a politician’s capacity to change.
With our New Zealand election only a few days away now I find it very annoying that everyone goes on all the time about this or that politician ‘flip flopping’, or in other words, saying different things at different times.
I want our leaders to take a position, based on research, on what they’ll do. Then I want them to be able to re-evaluate their position as times change, as research brings new information to light, as life goes on, as new and compelling arguments come to light.
Change is inevitable. I don’t want leaders who are fossils. Pah!
