See the ad on the back of this bus? With the lines of text all mixed up?
It superbly reinforces its message that
It’s hard to concentrate on two things at the same time. You’re four times more likely to have a crash when you’re on a mobile phone. Distracted drivers are dangerous.
In print, on TV, at the movies it’s a wonderful ad.
But why oh why did they put it on the back of a bus?
The other day I was driving through town when I came up behind a bus carrying this ad. In spite of myself I found I was trying to decipher the message. I’ve seen the ad in print. I knew what it was about. But it was massively hard to take my eyes off the bus and pay attention to the road.
The New Zealand Road Safety Trust are running a
Driver distraction campaign. But they seem to be taking things a little too literally.
